Second Maccabiade Place and Time Set

Plans are under way here for the Second Maccabiade, the Jewish Olympic Games, which will take place in the Holy Land in the Spring of 1935. The first games were held last Fall in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in the presence of Lord Melchett, honorary president of the World Maccabee organization. The plans were announced today.

Gymnastic and general sport competition will have their places on the program. Among the events already listed are the 100-metre, 200-metre, 400-metre, 800-metre, 1,500 metre and 5,000-metre races; 100- and 400-metre relay races; 110- and 400-metre hurdles; a ten kilometre cross-country run; a three kilometre relay; jumping events, high and broad; discus-throwing; weight and shot-putting, javelin and hammer throws.

Contests for women will include sprints, hurdles, broad and high jumping, weight-putting, discus-throwing and javelin throws.

The swimming events will be based on the Olympics swimming program. Bicycle races will be on the schedule as well as team and individual competition in tennis, fencing, boxing and wrestling in all weight classes.

A football tournament and a basketball tourney for women will be held in connection with the Maccabiade.

Teams from twenty countries are expected to participate in the Maccabiade.
