Secretary of State John Foster Dulles said at his press conference today that the United States has been supporting the United Nations Secretary General with regard to his request to Jordan to meet with Israel–under Article XII of the Israel-Jordan armistice agreement–to discuss armistice problems.

Mr. Dulles responded to a JTA reporter’s question. The question asked was: In view of the precarious status of the armistice and the recent Negev bus massacre is the United States doing anything to reinforce the UN request to Jordan to meet with Israel under Article XII to discuss strengthening of the armistice pact?
