Secretary of State George C. Marshall today re?ealed that John H. Hilldring, Assistant Secretary for Occupied Areas, who supports the admission of displaced persons to the United States, is resigning from his post because of financial reasons.

Testifying before the Senate Sub-Committee on Appropriations in an attempt to secure the return of funds deemed necessary by the State Department for its informational and other programs, and which had been cut by Congress, Secretary Marshall said that the Department was losing many able officials because of inadequate funds.
