The European Security Conference opened here today with Israel scheduled to be heard in a few days on the question of security in the Middle East. The Conference commission on the free circulation of persons and ideas is scheduled to deal with the problem of Soviet Jews and intellectuals.
In Paris, the Alliance Israelite Universelle, headed by Nobel Peace Prize winner Rene Cassin, said today European Jews were at present victims of “disguised persecution.” The Alliance called on the Conference to “profit by the lessons of the last World War.” In a related development, representatives of the French Jewish welfare organization (CRIF) met in Paris with French Foreign Minister Michel Jobert on the subject of Soviet Jews.
