The Palestine government plans to offer long term leases on land in the reclaimed area in Haifa Bay which is to be retained as a State Domain. This project is regarded as providing an excellent opportunity for Jews abroad who desire to lease Palestine land for industrial purposes.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns from an authoritative source that lessees will be enabled to obtain leases on very reasonable terms. The leases, presumably, will be for a period of forty-nine years, with the option of renewal for a similar period.
While it is presumed that all applicants will be accorded equal consideration, past practice leads to the assumption that preference will be given to British firms.
A number of leading British firms, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency understands, are planning to put in bids for long term leases and these will be granted in individual cases by the Palestine government. Part of the area under discussion is to be retained for Customs Warehouses.
An official announcement in this connection is shortly to be published in the Official Gazette, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency is informed.
