Arab lawyers are seeking a change of venue for the trial of the Arabs charged with murdering the Jewish mechanic, Isaac Mamaan of Safed, on the claim that Judge Litt, who is sitting with Chief Justice MacDonnel, is disqualified because he expressed an opinion during the proceedings. The Arab lawyers submitted a report in the “Palestine Bulletin” as evidence of such a statement by Judge Litt.
After an interview with the Chief Justice, in which apologies were submitted for the conduct of the Arab lawyers’ Maughanan and Asfaur, in the Haifa court, withdrawing from the defense, it was arranged that Arab counsel appear to defend the prisoners when the trial opened on Tuesday morning.
