A strenuous battle developed here today between prosecution and defense counsels in the case of the three Revisionist Zionists who will be tried for the murder of Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, Zionist labor leader, on April 23. The prosecution insists on transferring the trial from Jaffa, where the crime occurred, to Jerusalem, while the defense, headed by the well-known London attorney, Horace Samuel, insists that the trial be held in Jaffa as scheduled.
Inspector-General Roy G. B. Spicer, commandant of the Palestine police, today filed an affidavit stating that the Jaffa jail was inadequate and that bitter feeling between Revisionists and Laborites makes it necessary for public security to transfer the trial to Jerusalem.
Defense counsel Samuel filed a counter affidavit strongly objecting to the change of venue and arguing that this would disarrange and disorganize the work of the defense.
The accused, Aba Achimeier, Zvi Rosenblatt and Abraham Stavsky, were officially charged with premeditated murder under Article 170 of the Ottoman penal Code.
The prosecution, according to an official announcement, will call at least forty-five witnesses, while the defense will summon seventy-nine.
