A demonstration in Leipsic, organized by the Socialists to protest against the high cost of living resulted in the killing of three of the participants and the wounding of 22 others.
The casualties were sustained when someone in the crowd fired on the police, who answered with more volleya. The demonstration for a time threatened to go off on a tangent and become an anti-Semitic rally instead when some of the participants sought to incite the others with anti-Jewish cries. There were however no special anti-Jewish excesses.
