Selahattin Ulkumen, a Turkish diplomat who saved 42 Jewish families on the island of Rhodes during World War II, died Saturday at 89. In 1944, Ulkumen, then Turkey’s consul general on Rhodes, issued exit visas to Turkish Jewish families living on the island.
