Sen. Robert A. Taft yesterday stated that changes in the Taft-Hartley Labor Act would probably be held up if an anti-discriminatory amendment proposed by Sen. Irving M. Ives of New York were made part of the bill revising the labor law. Sen. Taft is one of two members of the 13-man Senate Labor Committee who has not indicated support of the Ives amendment and who feels that it should not be included in the revision bill.
The American Jewish Congress today filed a memorandum with the Senate Labor Committee strongly endorsing the principles of the Ives Bill which would prevent discrimination by employers or labor unions against any worker because of race, religion or ancestry.
