The Senate yesterday confirmed President Johnson’s nomination of Abe Fortas, prominent Washington Jewish attorney, to the post of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. Confirmation came on a voice vote after three members of the upper house, all of them Republicans, had expressed some criticisms against the nomination of Mr. Fortas. He succeeds Ambassador Arthur J. Goldberg, now the chief United States delegate to the United Nations.
