Senate Immigration Group Will Tour Displaced Persons Camps in Europe Next Month

Three members of the Senate Special Committee to Investigate Immigration Matters will leave Washington on October 12 or 13 for Frankfurt, Germany, to investigate displaced persons camps throughout Germany, Austria, Italy and to gather information for the study of immigration problems confronting the next session of Congress, it was learned today.

Senator Chapman Revercomb, Republican of West Virginia and chairman of the Senate’s Standing Sub-Committee on Immigration, will be accompanied on the trip by Senators Forrest C. Donnell, Republican of Missouri and Howard C. McGrath, Democrat of Rhode Island, members of the Special Committee; Richard Arens, staff director of the committee and Thomas J. Davis, an investigator.

The Preparatory Commission of the International Refugee Organization has received $1,000,000 from the now defunct UNRRA, it was announced today by UNRRA headquarters. The $1,000,000 represents the unspent balance of funds which had been budgeted by UNRRA for its displaced persons operations.
