Senator Albert Cummins, Chairman of the Senate, declared in an interview with Rabbi Simon Glazer of New York that the Johnson Bill in its present form will be defeated when it reaches the Senate because it is not liberal with regard to the admission of relatives of citizens or aliens already residing in the United States. He said that he is opposed to the separation of families and no distinction should be made between relatives of citizens, declarants or others who have been admitted into the United States.
