Senator Jacob K. Javits, New York Republican, today asked the State Department to inquire into widespread reports of mistreatment of Jews in Morocco.

The Senator, in a message to the State Department, voiced his concern over recent instances of anti-Jewish discrimination. He said that King Mohammed V gave assurances when his country became independent in 1956 that the rights of Jews would be protected.
