Heinz Diestelmann, editor-in-chief of the news monispring department of the West German Government Press and Information Office, has been discharged for “anti-Semitic utterances,” the office announced yesterday. Herr Diestelmann reportedly told a Jewish newspaperman that “today, Jews have no chances of getting jobs with German newspapers.” This is the first case of a senior Bonn official being removed from office for such cause.
