RAPID INCREASE IN SENTIMENT AMONG THE PALESTINIAN ARABS FOR AN UNDERSTANDING WITH THE JEWS WAS REPORTED TODAY IN A DISPATCH BY JOSEPH M. LEVY FROM JERUSALEM TO THE NEW YORK TIMES. THE FIGHT AGAINST A JEWISH STATE CONDUCTED AT THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE JEWISH AGENCY FOR PALESTINE BY NON-ZIONISTS LED BY FELIX M. WARBURG, AMERICAN BANKER, GREATLY PLEASED THE ARABS, THE REPORT SAId.
SURPRISINGLY, THE TIMES SAID, ARAB EXTREMISTS, PARTICULARLY YOUTH LEADERS, ARE THE ONES WHO ARE NOW LEADERS IN SINCERELY CALLING FOR CO-OPERATION WITH THE JEWS, RATHER THAN MODERATE AND SEMI-MODERATE ARABS. THEY BELIEVE AN AMICABLE AGREEMENT COULD BE REACHED IF JEWISH LEADERS ADOPTED THE ATTITUDE OF MR. WARBURG AND DR. MAGNES.
