A resolution authorizing the Executive of the Federation of Polish Jews to start an independent relief campaign in America for the benefit of the Jews in Poland, “should it find it necessary to do so,” was adopted at the closing session of the annual convention of the Federation held here.
Benjamin Winter was reelected president of the Federation, Z. Tygel executive director and Abraham I. Kandel, treasurer. More than 340 delegates participated in the convention, representing 108 organizations of Polish Jews in America.
The conventoin also adopted in principle the calling of an international conference of Federation of Polish Jews this Summer. The date was left to be set by the new executive.
A resolution demanding a stronger boycott of goods made in Germany was among the decisions adopted by the convention. The closing session was addressed by Alexander Kahn, representing the Joint Distribution Committee. Mr. Kahn described the present catastrophic situation of the Jews in Poland and enumerated the work done by the Joint Distribution Committee for Polish Jewry.
At a special session of the women’s division at the conference, it was decided to organize a national organization of Polish-Jewish women in the United States.
