The seventy-fifth birthday and the completion of twenty years service of Adolf Krauss, president of the Independent Order of B’nai B’rith was celebrated last night at a banquet at the Hotel La Salle. One thousand of Chicago’s prominent Jewish citizens were present. Mr. Benjamin Samuels, was toastmaster.
The dinner also marked the opening of a campaign for 20,000 new members.
Mr. Krauss, who is one of the prominent leaders in American Jewry, has a distinguished record of public service. He was formerly president of the Chicago Board of Education; he has been city corporation council, president of the Civil Service Commission and editor of the Chicago “Times”.
