Funeral services were held yesterday at the Riverside Memorial Chapel for Philip Pearlman of Pelham, coal and oil merchant and well – known philanthropist who died Saturday of heart disease. He was 51 years old.
Rabbi Sydney E. Goldstein of the Free Synagogue and Rabbi Elias Margolis of Temple Emanu-El, Mount Vernon, officiated. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Westchester.
Mr. Pearlman was born in Russia in 1884. He came to this country in 1913. Three years ago, as financial secretary of the Bronx Hospital, he contributed approximately $200,000 to the institution’s building fund.
His other philanthropies included contributions to the Jewish Center of the East Side, of which he was a director. He also was active in the direction of the Y. M. H. A., the Jewish Educational Association and the Zionist Organization of America.
Surviving Mr. Pearlman are his widow, Mrs. Maybell Priluker Pearlman and a 4-year-old daughter, Roslyn Anne.
