Funeral services will be held this morning for Milton Weil, retired silk manufacturer and financier who died Tuesday at the New York Hospital after a long illness. Burial will be private.
The founder of the Gotham Silk Hosiery Company, Mr. Weil was fifty-seven at the time of his death. He had been retired from active business for ten years.
On a European trip eight years ago Mr. Weil became interested in the hobby of collecting cameos which have been on exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for several years. They were catalogued by Professor Ernst Kris, of the Vienna Museum, who appraised them as the most valuable collection of their kind in the world. The cameos are principally from the Renaissance period in Italy and include a number of French and German origin.
Surviving Mr. Weil are Mrs. Weil, the former Miss Ethel Schiff; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy W. Leavitt, and his mother, Mrs. Frederica Weil.
