Funeral services will be held today for Caesar Greenberg, called the father of the Yiddish stage in the United States, who died at the age of seventy-eight in the Home for Incurables. Interment will take place in the Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Greenberg was said to be the first character actor of the Yiddish stage. He served as president and manager of the Biblical Historical Opera Company at the World’s Fair in St. Louis in 1904 and was a director of an Acting School in this city. A daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Lichtenstein, survives him.
