The seventh anniversary of the rounding up and deportation of 13,000 French Jews to their death in the Drancy and Oswiecim concentration camps was marked during the week-end at meetings arranged by the Jewish Consistory of Paris and the Federation of Jews of France.
Religious services were conducted at the Main Synagogue with leading rabbis, including Chief Rabbi Isaiah Schwartz, in attendance. Israeli envoy to France Maurice Fischer also participated in the memorial services. The National Federation of Deportees, Internees and Resistance Fighters, in conjunction with the Jewish Federation of Deportees and Internees, also arranged a meeting honoring the memory of the 13,000 victims of Nazi brutality.
