The Central Conference of American Rabbis has sent a request to its members to stimulate attendance at services Nov. 14-15 which has been proclaimed the “Shabbat of Affirmation” in response to the UN General Assembly draft resolution on Zionism and racism.
The proclamation was issued by the Synagogue Council of America and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. The CCAR said the goal was “to mass all American Jews into the synagogues all over the country to witness our affirmation that Zionism is not only not racism but is the very opposite, inasmuch as it is an expression of the finest values in Judaism.”
