Foreign Minister Yitzhak Shamir will make an official visit to Zaire next week, it was announced yesterday. Details of his trip have not been released for security reasons but he is expected to spend two days in Kinshassa for meetings with President Mobutu Sese Seko and other top leaders of the central African nation.

Premier Menachem Begin had been originally scheduled to visit Zaire after that country restored diplomatic relations with Israel, broken at the time of the Yom Kippur War. But his trip had to be postponed for various non-political reasons, most recently because of the illness of Begin’s wife, Aliza, who died November 14.

Shamir’s trip was also twice deferred. Officials here expressed satisfaction that he is finally going to Zaire and hoped his visit will serve to open dialogues with other African nations. Israel and Zaire are already engaged in cooperative undertakings in various fields.
