The Israel Cabinet today heard a report from Premier Moshe Sharett on the political situation in the light of the statements made last week by U.S. Secretary of State John Foster Dulles and yesterday by British Prime Minister Sir Anthony Eden warning the Soviet Government in Moscow against the sale of arms by Communist countries to Egypt and other Arab lands.
Premier Sharett also reported to the Cabinet on the comments made by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State George V. Allen following his return on Friday from Cairo, where he failed to impress Egyptian Premier Nasser with the necessity for cancellation of the Egyptian-Czechoslovak arms deal in order to avoid an arms race between Israel and the Arab countries. Following Mr. Sharett’s report, all members of the Cabinet visited Israel’s new plant for solar energy.
