Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett last night flew back to Israel, where he is scheduled to arrive Monday morning.
Prior to his departure, Mr. Sharett, commenting on the demand of Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Salah el-Din for free American arms, suggested that Egypt first prove its “peace-loving character” by concluding peace with Israel. Mr. Sharett emphasized that Israel stands ready to conclude peace with the Arab state, but that the latter still refuses to restore peace and stability to the Near East. Mr. Sharett, who conferred with Secretary of State Dean Acheson last week said that they had not discussed the arms situation.
