A sharp increase in the number of clashes along the Jordan and Syrian borders since the United Nations Security Council adopted its resolution censuring Israel for the Kibya incident, has been noted by Israel’s military authorities, it was reported here today.
The report stated that since November-there have been 13 separate incidents involving Jordanians–regular and irregular forces–and Syrian troops. As a result of this new boldness on the part of the Arabs–apparently encouraged by the anti-Israel attitude at the UN–a number of Israelis have been killed, injured and kidnapped. In turn, the infiltrators have also suffered losses, while a number of Arabs have been captured.
All the incidents have formally been protested to the UN-headed Mixed Armistice Commissions which have carried out investigations in each instance.
