Informed quarters today forecast a complete policy switch by King Carol of Rumania following Soviet Russia’s occupation of Moldavian territory and Germany’s failure to protect the country from Russia or to quiet Hungarin and Bulgarian demands on Bucharest.
Since the policy of attempting to conciliate Germany by giving Rumania a pro-German fascist regime failed, Carol is seen here as contemplating going to the other extreme, ousting the right-wingers and installing a government under Julius Maniu, Peasant Party leader, with a policy of throwing Rumania at the mercy of the Soviet.
