Upon orders of the Palestine Government, the steamer Assandu sailed for Rumania yesterday with its cargo of 269 Jewish refugees. The vessel had been stopped off Caearea by the Coast Guard on Wednesday and detained here on suspicion that it intended to make an attempt to land the refugees, who had no Palestine immigration certificates. Its food and water supplies were exhausted after 18 days on the Mediterranean. The passengers included 50 women and children.
