Sidney I. Cole, a leader of American Reform Judaism and chairman of the national board of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, died Saturday morning from a coronary ailment on his way to Edgewater Hospital. He was 65 years old. During his three decades of service with the Reform group, the Chicago-born engineer held various posts including president of the UAHC’s Chicago Federation, president of the UAHC’s Oconomowoc Camp-Institute and UAHC national treasurer and vice-chairman. He was elected as the chairman of the board at the UAHC’s biennial convention in Los Angeles, Nov. 1971. Funeral services will be here Tuesday at Temple Beth Israel, conducted by Rabbi Ernst Lorge and Rabbi Maurice N. Eisendrath, president of the UAHC.
