Private funeral rites were held here today for Siegfried Kramarsky, retired banker and philanthropist, who was active in aiding Jewish refugees from the Nazi regime and a life-long Zionist, He died at his New York home yesterday at the age of 68.
For the past five years, he had been chairman of the finance advisory committee of Hadassah, of which his wife, Mrs. Lola Popper Kramarsky, currently is president. He was active in Jewish communal affairs in New York, a supporter of the Weizmann Institute in Israel and a generous contributor to the United Jewish Appeal.
Born in Lubeck, Germany, he and his wife left that country in 1923 and settled in Amsterdam. When Hitler launched World War II, the late Dr. Chaim Weizmann, a family friend, helped them to go to Canada. The family settled in New York in 1940.
