Stating that the New Deal is under way all over the world as an inevitable process that will go on for more than a generation, Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver of the Temple, Cleveland, drew applause as he spoke before six thousand delegates assembled here today for a convention of the New Jersey State Teachers’ Association.
Rabbi Silver warned that this “change cannot succeed unless the rising generation is prepared for it intellectually and spiritually.” He urged that teaching emphasis be shifted from the old “self-made man fable” to new ideals of civic cooperation and sportsmanship.
