On trial on charges of extortion and bribery, Arthur Simon, dismissed Health Department Kashruth inspector, yesterday denied he had accepted a bribe from Abraham Gellis of the Isaac Gellis Kosher Provisions Company to “fix” a summons for an alleged kosher food law violation.
After character witnesses had testified for Simon, he took the stand in his own defense. The defense is expected to conclude today.
