Arthur Simon, former Health Department investigator, will surrender himself in General Sessions Court today to answer an indictment for bribery and gratuity returned by the New York County Grand Jury, he told a reporter yesterday. Bail of $1,000 has been arranged.
Simon, who lives at 420 Fiftieth street, Brooklyn, was indicted Wednesday after Abraham Gellis of the Isaac Gellis Kosher Meat Products Company had appeared before the Grand Jury, where it is understood he charged Simon had accepted a $250 bribe to “fix” a kosher food law violation summons served on Gellis.
Simon denied acceptance of the bribe and yesterday repeated his counter-charge that he is being “framed.”
