Simon E. Sobeloff, Solicitor General of the United States, received the Charter Day Award of Yeshiva University tonight at the annual Charter Day dinner here. Harry Siskind, of New York, was given the annual award for leading congregational activities of the Synagogue Council of America.
Mr. Sobeloff, a former Chief Justice of the Maryland Court of Appeals, has had a distinguished legal career and has been active in Jewish and civic affairs in Baltimore and nationally. The Charter Day Award has been presented previously to Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, former Assistant Secretary of Defense Anna M. Rosenberg, Sen. Herbert Lehman, Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas and former Interior Secretary Oscar Chapman.
