Funeral services were held here for Simon Wishniack, a pioneer of the Jewish community in Mexico, who died of the age of 87 after a long illness. Wishniack, a businessman and philanthropist, was born in Siberia and came to Mexico from the United States after World War I. He was a founder and president of several local Jewish institutions, among them a Jewish day school, the Jewish Banco Mercantil and the first Jewish cultural center in Mexico. He was also active in the local motion picture industry.
