The High Commissioner of Palestine has been asked to confer with Sir John Simpson, now investigating problems of land settlement, immigration and development, regarding the possibility of Sir John making the question of the cancellation of the 2,300 immigration certificates the first subject of his inquiry and report, the House of Common was informed today by the acting under secretary for the Colonies in reply to a question from Graham White.

The acting under-secretary also confirmed the fact that the certificates have been merely suspended temporarily and objected to the use of the term “cancelled”. The matter of publishing the much-discussed MacMaho# correspondence is still under consideration and a statement on it is possible before the Whitsuntide recess, it was announced. The publication of the evidence taken by the Shaw Commission is anticipated not later than the end of the month.
