Mr. Edwin Samuel, Sir Herbert Samuel’s son, who holds a Government appointment in Palestine, has been awarded a Commonwealth Fund Service Fellowship tenable at an American University, to be named, for 15 months’ education and travel.
The Fellowships, of which five are offered this year, are open to British subjects holding appointments in the British Government service overseas. Mr. Samuel, who intends eventually to write a thesis on comparative colonial economic development with special reference to Palestine, will go to America in August. Sir John Chancellor, the High Commissioner, formally ratified his appointment to-day.
