Sir Samuel Fisher, a distinguished civic leader and business executive was elected without opposition yesterday to be the 29th president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews. Fisher succeeds Michael Fidler, a Member of Parliament. In his acceptance speech, the new president said “I see it as my main purpose to improve the quality of Jewish life.” Sir Samuel had previously served as vice-president of the Board.
