The situation along the entire northern front of Palestine is serious as fighting between Israelis and Lebanese troops and irregulars continues, a United Nations spokesman declared here last night. In the spokesman’s opinion neither side gained much in the resumption of hostilities in Galilee.
Israeli forces counterattacked after the Arabs broke the truce. The Jews reoccupied two important heights and drove the invaders back across the Lebanese border. The U.N. spokesman said the Jews bombed three towns inside Lebanon and that their artillery shelled other points across the border.
