Six hundred workers were arrested by the authorities on August. 1 in connection with the street demonstrations attempted by the Communists. The demonstrations were held within the Jewish quarter. A great number of those arrested are under the age of 19. The strike called by the Communists was a failure, since all factories and workshops functioned.
