Six Italian opera singers were injured here last night when an automobile in which they were riding was in a collision with a jeep driven by an Army sergeant. The singers had participated in a presentation of “Falstaff” here with the Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Carlo Mario Giulini.
Three of the singers were detained at the Tel Aviv Hospital where, it was said, they might have to remain three weeks. The three other injured were discharged after receiving first aid. The company’s final performance, scheduled for tonight, was cancelled.
