The opinion that South African Jewish leadership is not adequately acquainting the community with the gravity of the situation in Palestine, and that a national Jewish conference, representative of all shades of Jewish opinion in South Africa, should be convened and secure all-out support for the Jews of Palestine in this critical time, was expressed here by E.I. Rogoff, vice chairman of the Palestine Special Emergency Fund.

“The publicity which is being made available on Palestine today is not making known the real facts of the situation,” he declared. “It is breeding a feeling of over-confidence when what we need is a presentation of the gravity of the situation. South African Jewish leadership is not sufficiently acquainting the public with the crisis we have to face.” Rogoff said it was imperative to have the utmost unity and the maximum support of Haganah. He added that he would also like to see better under standing between the Irgun and Haganah.
