Tribute was paid to the memory of the 6,000,000 Jews martyred by Nazism at a meeting held at City Hall here last night by the Board of Deputies of British Jews. Similar meetings were held in many parts of the Union.

South African Chief Rabbi Louis I. Rabinowitz memorialized the martyrs and paid respect to the Warsaw Ghetto fighters who 12 years ago rose from the ruins of the Jewish prison to battle the might of what was then the greatest army in Europe. Rabbi Rabinowitz referred to the day of the uprising as “the day on which hope was reborn in European Jewry.”
