The Socialist-oriented Union of Working Jews won a clear majority, garnering 13 of the 24 seats in the Jewish Community of Vienna, as a result of yesterday’s elections for representatives in the Jewish community organization here. The election tabulations, completed today, also showed that two small Zionist parties elected a total of only four representatives, while the Orthodox bloc in this city did not obtain a single seat in the Jewish community’s council.
Second place on the council, after the 13 seats won by the Union of Working Jews, went to the newly created Organization of Jewish Persecutes, which received six seats. This group is headed by Simon Wiesenthal, noted for his conduct of a research center credited with having tracked down the late Adolf Eichmann in the latter’s hiding place in Argentina. The Communist group elected one representative.
