A sociological study of Jews living in provincial areas in Argentina has been undertaken by Hashomer Hatzair as the first step in an overall research project designed to cover the entire Jewish community in this country, it was reported here.
“Nueva Sion,” official organ of the Hashomer Hatzair organization, said that only 12 percent of all Jews who settled in Argentina moved to rural areas. Some 66 percent of all Jews living outside Buenos Aires are engaged in independent commercial and industrial undertakings, the publication added. The percentage of Jews employed in the government in provincial areas is very small.
