Three Israeli soldiers were wounded Monday in an attack launched by the Islamic fundamentalist Hezbollah movement in the central sector of the southern Lebanon security zone.
Israel and its allied South Lebanon Army responded to the attack by launching artillery fire at Hezbollah position.
The three wounded soldiers were flown to a hospital in Israel. Two of the soldiers were later reported to be lightly wounded, the third moderately.
On Sunday, an Israeli soldier was hurt when Hezbollah gunmen ambushed an Israeli patrol in the eastern sector of the security zone.
A senior Israeli security source, meanwhile, has denied claims made by Hezbollah that 12 SLA soldiers had defected to the Iranian-backed group. He said Hezbollah has recently intensified its campaign of psychological warfare against the SLA.
