Solomon Kerstein, a Hebrew scholar, author and retired vice president of the Bloch Publishing Co., died yesterday at the age of 68. Mr. Kerstein was a founder and former vice president of the Jewish Book Council of America and of the national council of Torah Education of Mizrachi-Hapoel Hamizrachi. He was a director of the Jewish National Fund. He headed the Judaica and Hebraica department at Bloch and edited the company’s Jewish book bulletin. Mr. Kerstein was the author of the monographs, “Jewish Libraries and Book Collections in America” “Jewish Institutions and Universities in the United States” and “The Literary and Spiritual Heritage of Rabbi Judah L. Maimon.”
