Some 30 Hungarian Jews who worked as slave laborers during World War II plan to sue Volkswagen for back wages, according to their lawyer. The move comes after their lawyer received a letter saying the company would not make payments to individual laborers and would instead give money to countries in Eastern Europe to help fight fascism. The slave laborers were sent from Auschwitz to a Volkswagen factory in the latter stages of the war to help produce armaments.
