A monument to Judah P. Benjamin, secretary of state and war in the Confederate cabinet, and known as the brains of the Confederacy, will be erected in this city, the former Confederate capital, if Stonewall Jackson Camp. Sons of Confederate Veterans, have their way. This group is sponsoring the proposed monument to Benjamin, for whom it is proposed to build a $50,000 memorial on one of the city’s main streets.
